Yellow Creek work day 5/8/2010
A great crew showed up saturday morning to attack the broken bridge across yellow creek and fix up the wet boggy area nearby it. the bridge is stronger than ever now (and awaiting the real test of next winters snow pack) and the wet section is now dry. Thanks to Tim and Linda, Jeffro, Jason, Mackie, Tim G, Sarah D and Oso, and even xc ski trail guru Chipper and side-kick Mellon Collie showed up with a much needed farm-jack. So, how do you fix a wet section of bike/hike trail around here? By natural means of course.....rocks...we got a great supply all over the place!

Trail Work Day Saturday May 8th!
Well, it's upon again... the second Saturday of the month, and that
means it's time to give back to the trails you so much enjoy!
Meet @ Blackwater Bikes, 9am or
whenever you can, and someone will let you know where we are working so
you can come find us.
On tap for the upcoming work is fixing the
yellow creek bridge on CVI, and possibly adding more stone to the
wet/boggy area after the bridge in the pines if roger can grab some more
stone and get the canycom running after the long winter. Effort to make a dry path on
the side of the "swimming pool" on Initiation
run is underway also, and the need to finish the hand rails on the dobbin house bridge
exists also, so depending on how many people show, will determine how
much can be done.
We would also like to start
combining the workday with group riding, so bring your bike and gear
for an afternoon ride if you so choose.
On a side note:
remember as good samaritan hiker/biker, do what you can to remove debris
such as large branches, etc that are in the trails whenever possible.
Alot of broken limbs, and rhododendron from the weight of the winter
snow may exist. They can be easily trimmed or pruned
back with barely any effort. So, if think of it, toss that old pair of
pruners or folding handsaw in your pack next time you hit the trails and
do your due diligence, after all, you are in the tucker county trails
club! :)
See you on workday!

New officers for 2010
Not a a huge showing of people, many usual suspects, but lots of
great food! Thanks to MSBC for the keg and thanks to Tim and Linda for
bringing their awesome beef for the burgers and dogs. There was a brief
meeting to elect new officers for 2010. They are as follows:
President: Roger Lilly (Blackwater Bikes)
Vice Pres: Linda Blakeley (Mountain Springs Farm)
Secretary: Todd Romero (IT geek)
Treasurer: Ivonne Martinez (Mountaintop Library)
Roger getting on board is great because he is loves trails, trail building, and is a big time trail advocate and has good relationships with usfs, state park, refuge and cvi land managers.
Details of the fundraiser benefit at Hellbenders in December are coming soon!
Trail work day Saturday Oct 10th improvements
We worked on the wet section of Woodcock right off Dobbin House. Major improvement says Roger! Lots of progress with minimal people having the right tools!
